Deadline for Sustainable Living Course extended to Jan. 8

The deadline for signing up for the six-week “Choices in Sustainable Living” course being offered by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rock Valley in Rockton has been extended to Jan. 8, 2006.

Classes will be held at the church beginning Jan. 12 and every other week through February and March.

The classes will discuss how people can protect the Earth through the choices we make: what to eat, where to live, how we get around, and what kinds of communities we build.

All participants are asked to purchase the coursebook, “Choices for Sustainable Living,” published by the Northwest Earth Institute. The cost is $18. Some financial assistance is available. To sign up and order a coursebook, contact the Rev. Laura Horton at (708) 358-1647 or

The church is in Rockton at the corner of Blackhawk Boulevard and School Street in the old Stephen Mack School.
