Dennis DeYoung joins RSO Jan. 10

Dennis DeYoung, former singer and songwriter of Chicago-based rock group STYX, will perform with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, at Coronado Theatre. DeYoung, with support of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, will present a retrospective of his career featuring radio classics such as “Babe,” “Come Sail Away,” “The Best of Times,” “Lady,” and “Mr. Roboto.” He also will perform various selections from his Broadway repertoire, songs from his musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame, STYX music never performed live and a tribute to the men and women who continue to serve our nation with a special rendition of his 1986 hit “Black Wall.”

DeYoung’s latest ventures include “Come Sail Away” featured in the Disney movie Atlantis, Ja Rule covering one of his never-released STYX songs “Castle Walls,” Foxy Brown samples “Light Up,” and a spoof of “Mr. Roboto” in Austin Powers— Goldmember.
