Many music lovers only knew Detroit rocker Uncle Kracker as Kid Rocks spinning DJ who co-wrote some of Kids most popular songs including Only God Knows Why. But in 2000, Lava recording artist Uncle Kracker stepped into the spotlight with the release of his Billboard Top 10 solo album titled Double Wide. The album reached double platinum status and also produced the Top 3 crossover pop smash hit, Follow Me.
After the release of his first album, Uncle Kracker continued to tour with Kid Rock and Twisted Brown Trucker while working on his solo career. He recorded his second album in winter 2001/02 and introduced the world to No Stranger to Shame. Producer Mike Bradford was Krackers main collaborator on this album, and together they controlled the creative reins trying their best to display Krackers style of down-home soul mixed with funk, rap, hip hop and driving hard rock.
A few songs from the album include the rendition of Doby Grays Drift Away, featuring Gray himself, which is currently No. 1 on the adult contemporary charts, a song titled Letter To My Daughters, which gives listeners a sneak peek at Krackers sensitive side, and Memphis Soul Song, which shows his musical style preference.
Uncle Kracker completes the Miller Lite Great Lawn line-up for 2003 On the Waterfront Festival. Make sure to be a part of this celebration of 20 years of food, music, fun and festival! Information: 964-4388 or go to www.onthewaterfront.
