Dinosaurs featured at Kids Castle
A new breed of dinosaur is set to take over On the Waterfront (OTW) 2003. The Rockford Health System Kids Castle, to be held in the South Main Street parking deck, will offer a five-story fun palace where patrons can meet Jane the Recyclosaurus.
Created by the Burpee Museum of Natural History, this large frame of a dinosaur will help teach kids about recycling and how recycling is important to the environment. Kids can help build Jane the Recyclosaurus by adding recyclable products to her body. Three other dinosaurs will be built during the summer at both park district camps and Burpee Museum experiences and will be displayed at the Kids Castle.
The top floor of the Kids Castle will also showcase a renewable energy hybrid system, complete with windmills and solar panels.
The OTW Green Committee, which has organized all recycling activities including the Kids Castle, is still in search of dedicated volunteers to help with the festivals recycling program, including the Kids Castle. To volunteer or for more information, call Karen King at 964-4388, e-mail her at email@example.com, or contact the OTW corporate office, 308 W. State St., Suite 115, Rockford, IL 61101 (on the first floor inside the Stewart Square building).
