Discovery Center celebrates 25 years June 24

Join the Discovery Center Museum as it celebrates 25 years of discovery.

2006 marks the 25th anniversary of Discovery Center Museum, and plans are underway for a spectacular party.

The Discovery Corps, the Volunteer Auxiliary of the museum, is hosting the Discovery Center Gala 2006, “25 Years of Discovery,” from 7 to 11 p.m., Saturday, June 24, at Rockford Country Club.

All are invited to join the staff, friends and supporters of Discovery Center to reflect on the past 25 years of the museum’s history, and look ahead to its future.

Discovery Corps President Lynn Moczynski said: “We are very pleased to be involved with the museum at such an exciting time in its history. This will be a wonderful celebration for all the people who helped make this fantastic organization what it is today.” Attendees can dance to the music of the Dean Moriarty Jazz Band, enjoy sumptuous food, a lavish silent auction, raffle drawing and magical entertainment.

Tickets are $85 per person and sponsor tables for 10 are available for $850. Reservations can be made by calling 972-2834.

Discovery Center Museum is a nonprofit organization providing hands-on math, science and art experiences for all ages with more than 250 hand-on exhibits. Discovery Center Museum is inside Riverfront Museum Park, 711 N. Main St. General admission to the museum is $5 adults, $4 children (ages 2 to 17) and free to children younger than 2 and museum members. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m., Sunday.
