District E board member resigns due to relocation
Due to a relocation outside of the school district, District E Representative Mark Burns has informed school board President Mike Williams that he intends to resign effective June 12, 2002. The board is now seeking applications from registered voters to fulfill the remainder of Burns term. Under state law, the applicants must live within the boundaries of District E.
My time on the board has been a tremendous learning experience, said Burns. However, while I will miss the board, Dr. Brown and the many fine people in Rockford, I am going to fulfill a personal goal of pursuing a graduate degree at an out-of-state university.
We are sorry to lose Mark Burns as a board member, said Williams. He has provided valuable insight and leadership.
Those registered voters living within District E who are interested in applying for the vacancy must provide a letter of application that includes the following information:
l Why the applicant is applying for the position
l Qualifications that have prepared the applicant for the position
l Involvement within Distict 205 or other education systems
l Participation in community activities
l Goals, if appointed
The information will assist the Board of Education in filling the vacancy in District E.
Applications should be addressed to the board president and delivered to the Administration Building of the Rockford Public Schools, 201 S. Madison St., Rockford, by 4:30 p.m. on June 18.
