Patricia Thayer was added to the new Winnebago County Board and took her oath of office Thursday to fill the District Four seat of Ernie Heuer.

After a tearful good-bye from Heuer, who accepted an award for his 21 years on the board, the board unanimously accepted Thayer.

“It is my great pleasure to recognize for appointment of Patricia L. Thayer,” county board Chairwoman Kris Cohn remarked.

Thayer thanked the board for their vote of confidence, stating it’s a “pleasure to serve with individuals I truly respect.”

Thayer is employed as the vice president of Thayer Lighting, Inc. She is a precinct committeeman member for Rockford Township Trustee & Ward Captain. Her further involvement is on the Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee, Golden Apple Fund Raiser Committee.

Her previous involvement includes presiding over the Winnebago County Republican Women’s Association and serving on the Illinois Conference Executive Committee for her church.

In her letter to Cohn, Thayer stated that serving on several boards and committees has broadened her knowledge of the decision-making process. “Knowing all the facts, reviewing the options, having an open mind and respecting others’ opinions, all play an important part in this process,” she states.
