Donate blood and get lunch at NIBB
The Northern Illinois Blood Bank is now featuring Hot Dog Wednesdays at their facility at 419 N. Sixth St. Through August 29, NIBB will provide hot dogs and all the fixins to donors attempting to donate blood.
The Northern Illinois Blood Bank is making every effort to ensure that people have the opportunity to conveniently donate blood. As temperatures rise, so do high-risk activities and related injuries. In an attempt to offset blood shortages common during the summer months, NIBB is hoping to incorporate several promotions to recruit donors.
Donating blood is safe and simple. All equipment is sterile and used only once. To be eligible to donate, a donor must be between 17 and 75 years old, weigh at least 100 pounds, and be in general, good health. Persons taking medications are not necessarily disqualified. It is best to contact NIBB at (815) 965-8571 with any questions regarding eligibility.
Stop by in the morning, on your lunch hour, in the afternoon or over the dinner hour. Walk-ins are welcome.
