Underneath his dragon skin, Draco the Dragonator is a Hitachi Excavator. The 45-foot-long, 35-foot-tall machine weighs 42,000 pounds and is a member of the American Monster Truck Association. ‘);

What is 35 feet tall and weighs more than 21 tons, breathes fire and has a tail? I know it sounds like the start of a good mother-in-law joke, but it’s not. Instead, it’s Draco the Dragonator. The mechanical fire-breathing creature will be at Rockford Speedway Saturday night, June 23, to entertain the fans for Northwest Bank’s Kids Night at the races.

In addition to free admission for all kids 11 and younger, there will be a penny scramble and the regular NASCAR weekly racing action, including the Late Models, Short Trackers, Area Sportsmen and the Road Runners.

The first race of the night begins at 7:07 p.m. Tickets to see the races and Draco the Dragonator are on sale at the Rockford Speedway office or by calling (815) 633-1500.
