Ember Swift brings unique sound to Sinnissippi

Charlotte’s Web Summer Series continues with Ember Swift at the Music Shell in Sinnissippi Park at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, July 16.

“Listening to Ember Swift (emberswift.com) is one of those gut-grabbing ‘boy, ain’t she awesome’ kinds of experiences,” said The Northern Star of Australia. “Her music blends the fiery sensitivies of an outspoken political poet with an incredible diversity of influences.” Folk, punk, jazz, blues, pop and Middle Eastern come together in both her songwriting/singing and her completely innovative musicality.

“Expect the knee-shaking range of Ember Swift’s vocals and the lightning that is Lyndell Montgomery’s electric violin and bass,” said the Portland Press Herald of Maine.

“On stage Ember and company are fiery outbursts of outstanding musicianship, wry political observations and lush harmonies,” said Rag magazine, Florida. This 20-something dynamo is Canada’s answer to Ani Defranco!

All shows in the Sinnissippi Summer Series are free and presented in cooperation with the Rockford Park District. Rain site is Memorial Hall, 211 N. Main St. For rain site info, call 987-8800 after 2:30 p.m. on the date of the concert.
