Energy assistance available to eligible
The 2002 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered by the City of Rockford Human Services Department, is accepting applications a from income-eligible households in need of assistance paying heating and electric utility bills.
The program has been accepting applications since Sept. 1 from households whose utility service has already been disconnected.
Applications are being accepted at the Human Services Departments new location at 612 N. Church St., Rockford, Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Other sites accepting appointments are: St. Elizabeths Center, 1505 S. Main St.-965-6993, and Northwest Community Center, 1325 N. Johnston Ave.964-6885.
Rockton, South Beloit and Roscoe residents may apply at: Rockton Township, 1315 N. Blackhawk Blvd.624-7788.
Boone County households with senior or disabled members may apply at: Keen-Age Center, 2141 Henry Luckow Lane, Belvidere544-9893.
