Tickets went on sale last week for Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival, which is coming to the Chicago suburb of Bridgeview, Ill., Saturday, July 28 and will feature more than a dozen performers.

Some of the artists set to play Bridgeview’s Toyota Park include B.B. King, Vince Gill, John Mayer and Jeff Beck.

On tour in the U.S. and Canada, Clapton said by phone that he’s excited about the spontaneity this type of show will bring.

“Some of it’s mapped, and some of it isn’t,” Clapton said. “We have to leave a little bit of it to chance.”

Proceeds from the Crossroads Guitar Festival will benefit the Crossroads Centre, a drug rehab center the guitarist founded in the 1990s in Antigua.

Clapton, 62, will wrap his current tour in April before heading back to England to relax and prepare for the July festival, which is the second concert to benefit the Crossroads Centre. The first show was held in Dallas in 2004.

At press time, tickets were still available; however, festival officials are expecting to sell out long before the event.

More information about the Crossroads Guitar Festival can be found at Tickets can be purchased on the site and through Ticketmaster.
