Eugene S. Moore, 94 of Rockford, died peacefully in his home with his family on Sept. 20, 2004. Born June 1, 1910, in Columbus, Ohio., to Woodward C. and Augusta (Schwarb) Moore. He grew up in Chicago, Ill., and studied architectural drafting at Crane Technical College. He worked briefly for an architect designing site-specific houses in the western suburbs of Chicago. Married Pearl Helen Tatro on Aug. 5, 1950, in Chicago, Ill. A devoted husband and father, he lived with his wife and daughter in Clarendon Hills in the home he designed from 1954 until 1973. He served as an intelligence officer for the Counter Intelligence Corps during World War II and worked in national security for the Manhattan Project at The University of Chicago during the 1940s and at Argonne National Laboratories in Lemont, Ill., until his retirement to Sarasota, Fla., in 1973. His survivors include daughter, Marilyn (John) Lamar and nephew, Richard (Rita) Moore. Predeceased by parents, wife and brother, Fred Moore.
Memorial service arrangements are pending. Cremation rites have been accorded with arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home. Private interment of ashes will be in Palms Memorial Park in Sarasota, Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Alzheimers Association.
