Discovering Wellness * Cultivating Your Truth
So often I am asked in my office if this Chakra concept is what some call New Age. My answer is always, On the contrary, evidence of the Chakra system dates back to ancient Sanskrit times and is an age-old understanding and wisdom from long before our times. We could only wish that we were blessed enough to have discovered them.
There are seven Chakras in our system, which are located at the seven Endocrine glands along the line of the spinal column. Chakras are energy vortexes that we have in our bodies that allow energy to flow though us in order to sustain our lifeforce.
Chakra is the Sanskrit word for spining wheel; it is present in the ethereal body that relate to locations of the physical body. The Chakras function as pathways for energy to be taken in, metabolized and sent to the nearest major nerve center.
The degree of Chakra activity depends on a combination of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual development of the individual.
Chakras can be damaged or blocked through an emotional upset such as conflict, loss or trauma. Fear, anxiety and stress are common causes of Chakra malfunction; it is the disruption of the Chakras that creates disease and disturbs the energy balance in our system. Emotional problems can lead to blockages, obstructing the flow of energy into or out of the Chakras.
The frontal Chakras correlate to our emotional functions, the back to our will functions, and the top three Chakras to our reasoning functions. Staying balanced in these areas is quite necessary to good health and well being. The amount of energy flowing through our Chakras determines how well we function in life.
The base Chakra extends down and the crown Chakra extends up, the Chakras in between have vortexes both to the front of the body and to the back. The first, or Root Chakra, is located at the base of the spine and is associated with the color red. The second Chakra is located in the sacral area and is associated with the color orange. The third Chakra is located at the solar plexus and is associated with the color yellow. The fourth, or Heart Chakra, is associated with the color green, and also the color rose, which is the color of love. The fifth Chakra is located at the throat and is a bright blue. The sixth Chakra is located at the third eye (mid-forehead) and is indigo. The seventh, or Crown Chakra, is at the top of the head, and is violet fading to white.
When all the Chakras are spinning open, bright and clear, then our Chakra system is balanced. When a Chakra becomes blocked or damaged with negative energy, then our spiritual, physical, emotional and mental health can be affected. The effects of our habits, feelings, beliefs, thoughts, fears and desires can be found in our Chakras. The goal is to maintain a balanced energy system. This energy is essential for good health, vitality, vibrancy and continued growth on all four levels.
I have devised a color chart that explains each Chakra, their meaning and what areas each one governs on the four healing levels. For more information on the chart, call my office.
Perhaps you will identify disharmony or disease in a particular Chakra where you feel out of balance and in need of healing. If so, I recommend that you either contact myself or a natural healthcare practitioner to aid you in the process of rebalancing your Chakra system.
