Experience Works seeks nominees for 5th annual Prime Time Awards

Experience Works, the national nonprofit organization that provides training and employment services for mature workers, is seeking nominations for its 5th annual Prime Time Awards.

Established in 1965 as Green Thumb, and renamed Experience Works in 2002, the organization reaches more than 125,000 mature individuals in all 50 states and Puerto Rico each year. In 1988, Experience Works (formerly Green Thumb, Inc.) launched the Prime Time Awards Program, the nation’s premier older worker recognition event, to highlight the valuable contributions older Americans make to their communities and places of work. The Experience Works Prime Time Awards Program focuses national attention on the fastest-growing segment of our population, and a group of Americans who exemplify the positive work ethic, experience, loyalty and dependability that are so important to our society and economy.

The Experience Works Prime Time Awards Program honors America’s oldest worker, employers of older workers, and outstanding older workers representing each state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. These individuals are recognized during a series of local, state and national events preceding, during and immediately following “National Employ the Older Worker Week,” offering opportunities for maximum exposure on mature workforce issues.

Experience Works is proud to honor Mr. Richard Wolf as Illinois’ Outstanding Older Worker of 2001. At age 84, Wolf is currently employed with VITAS Healthcare Corporation. He volunteered two days each week for 11 years and structured his education to help him improve services to patients and their families. In 1991, VITAS created the position he holds today as administrative assistant and volunteer coordinator. Wolf works 20 hours each week at the Hospice House, located at the Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, counseling families and patients, and coordinating the activities of 35 hospice volunteers.

Experience Works is now searching for Illinois’ Outstanding Older Worker of 2002. He/she must be age 65 or older and work at least 20 hours per week in paid employment. Nominations are due by June 1, 2002.

The organization is also searching for Illinois’ Outstanding Employer of Older Workers. If you’re proud of your support of older workers, please nominate your company today! Nominations are due by May 18, 2002.

If you would like to nominate your company or an outstanding older worker, please call Michelle Hulls, public awareness coordinator, at (800) 962-1855, or nominate online at www.experienceworks.org.
