Explosive fun at Discovery Center July 4

Spend your holiday weekend at Discovery Center as it hosts “Paper Cuts” on Friday, July 2 (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and “KABOOM” on Sunday, July 4 from 1 to 4 p.m.

At “Paper Cuts” visitors will make puzzles out of paper, create flowers out of coffee filters, construct a papier-maché snowman, and take part in other exciting activities relating to paper.

On Sunday, July 4, visitors of all ages will experience chemistry, physics, art and music as they relate to our most explosive of national holidays! At “KABOOM” visitors will learn about projectile motion as helpless potatoes are blasted through the sky with a potato cannon and will learn what flying potatoes have in common with volcanoes! Kids of all ages will make rockets dissect glow sticks, make patriotic arts and crafts and more. Visitors can even play in a kazoo band and march to patriotic music. All this and more Friday, July 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Discovery Center Museum.

Target Greatland and the Illinois Arts Council sponsor the Family Friday series. Cost of both events is included with general admission to the Museum: $4 for adults, $3 for children ages 2-17 and free to children under 2 years and Museum members.
