The Leukemia Research Foundation (LRF) announces its 2006 The Face of Leukemia calendar, available now for $15 by calling 847-424-0600 or visiting www.leukemia-research.org. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the calendar benefit the Leukemia Research Foundation.
The Face of Leukemia calendar recounts the captivating stories of individuals and families who battle with legions of others in pursuit of the ultimate cure for leukemia and the other blood cancersindividuals on the front lines of discovery, fund-raising, living with loss, and living each day in remission. This collection of truly extraordinary accounts is proving to be an admired holiday and year-end gift of inspiration shared as corporate and employee appreciation or as individual stocking stuffer keepsakes. The LRF has been fighting the battle against leukemia, lymphoma and myelodysplastic syndromes for 60 years by funding research into their causes and cures, and to enrich the quality of life of those touched by these diseases.
Travis (December) was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia at the age of 5. Travis best hope was a bone marrow transplant . . . a matched, unrelated donor was found soon after through the National Marrow Donor Program. It was the only perfect match.
Mae (July) lost her adult son David to leukemia in 2000. Part of her sons legacy is the David Wortman Memorial Fund Mae began in 2002, providing critical research dollars to help find a cure.
Six-year-old Jordan (May) has been fighting leukemia for most of her young life (since 2000). Jordan has a great attitude and lives life fully on her good days!
These are just a few of the stories of courage and determination found in The Face of Leukemia calendar.
When you lose someone you love to a terrible disease like leukemia, it will forever show on your face, says Margo Gaydos-Machnik, president of The Diane Gaydos Memorial Chapter of the LRF and the professional photographer who created The Face of Leukemia calendar.
Every day, medical professionals and researchers get closer to solving the mystery of leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers. The Face of Leukemia is a powerful daily reminder that the ultimate goala cure for blood cancerscan be obtained when one does what he or she can to win.
The calendars are $15 each, plus $3.50 postage & handling. To place an order, call the Leukemia Research Foundation (LRF) at 847-424-0600 or visit www.leukemia-research.org.
