Fairview Nursing Plaza accepting donations for survivors of Hurricane Katrina

Fairview Nursing Plaza, 321 Arnold Ave., Rockford, is assisting the survivors of Hurricane Katrina by accepting donations of personal care items. The public is invited to join with residents, family members and staff in making a donation.

“There is so much that is needed to assist these communities. I hope in some small way, all of us collectively can make a difference in the lives of the people impacted. Each of the 10 nursing homes of SIR Management will be a drop-off spot for collections,” said Ron Nunziato, vice president for the management company.

Supplies will then be coordinated with the Red Cross efforts on behalf of the victims of the disaster. Examples of items that can be donated are: travel-size shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, disposable diapers, bar soap, shaving cream and women’s personal hygiene products, etc. All items should be in non-breakable bottles or containers. Donations can be brought to the reception area of Fairview Nursing Plaza during the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. For more information, contact Fairview Nursing Plaza at (815) 397-5531.
