Enduring healthy relationships take a lot of work. We are living in an environment full of demands for our time, energy and thoughts. Many of us enter relationships without as much guidance or direction as we get in an owners manual for our new automobile! Building a relationship together with a life partner that is meaningful and then hanging on to it is critical. A belief in sound, healthy relationships led Family Counseling Services of Northern Illinois to offer the Committed Couples Seminar.
The seminar is 12 hours of intensive training about the skills necessary for relationship enhancement: identifying risks on the road to lasting love, effective methods for dealing with conflict, learning to enjoy each other and stay on the path of commitment. Based on the well-researched PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program) approach, couples will participate in an interactive seminar led by Jeni Cosgrove, Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Family Counseling Services.
The seminar will be conducted on six consecutive Wednesday evenings at Eiger Lab, 605 Fulton Ave., in Rockford, beginning Wednesday, Feb. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost for the workshop is $20 per couple per week, or $100 for the entire workshop if paid in advance. Scholarships are available. For more information, please contact Family Counseling Services at 962-5585.
