Fear & Desire at Paragon with Bishoff, Zander and Christal

John Bishoff wrote, recorded and produced the album Fear & Desire at his studio, where he also produces videos as JRB Productions, Inc. He is a 40-year veteran of the Rockford music scene, and was awarded a lifetime achievement RAMI in 2001. John has played guitar in many bands over the years including The Intruders, The Brotherhood, Drivin’ Wheel, Sneek Prevue and Emery Christiansen. Most recently, John played as classical guitar accompanist to flutist, Nicholas Gunn. In that role, John played with Jon Brant and Kurt Weissand, appearing on the NPR radio show Echoes with John Diliberto, at On the Waterfront, many Charlotte’s Web concerts and more.

He has written and produced musical jingles for the Rockford Lightning, the Ice Hogs, Rockford Speedway, On the Waterfront, and Old Chicago, to name a few. Now John brings his musical sensibilities to Fear & Desire, pop/rock/classical/jazz album featuring the vocal talents of Holland Zander and Jinger Christal.

Holland Zander comes from royal rock lineage and has lent her vocal talent for the past five years to the hugely popular Snaggs. With the Snaggs, Holland recorded an EP, Heavier than a Ham Sandwich and the LP, Hot Tomatoes, which is available for downloading at iTunes.

Jinger Christal has been singing all her life, and currently performs with X-51 a power pop band with a devoted following.

Musicians appearing on the album are Nicholas Gunn, multi-platinum flutist and owner of Gemini Sun Records, Rachel Handlin, Violin 1 Assistant Concertmaster with Rockford Symphony Orchestra, Mike Beert, Cello Assistant Principal, also with RSO. Many veterans of Moonlight Jazz Orchestra also appear on the album including, Dave Timmke on acoustic bass, David Painter on keyboards, Tony Vecchio on saxophone, Mark Nelson on trumpet and Cary Sheley on trombone. Drums and percussion are by Joe Burwell, who plays skins for local country favorite, Gid-E-Yup, Joel DeLuna currently playing with Blaine Young as 5 Pin Sin, and Tito Cevalles, noted area Latin percussionist.

Also featured are Becky Asher, principal French Horn player with RSO, Dan Pitney on pedal steel guitar, Mark Applegate, jazz guitarist with Good Puddin’, and Adam Plamann, clarinetist with the Wandering Sons.
