The 14th Annual Garden Glory Walk, sponsored by SwedishAmerican Health System, is set for Saturday, July 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, July 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This popular summer event allows patrons entrance into eight private gardens, a memory garden filled with bronze sculptures of children at play, Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden, and the Flora exhibit at the Rockford Art Museum. The Rockford-based gardens will exhibit the finest in shade, sun, mixed, whimsical and unique water gardens set in natural surroundings and landscaped venues.

The Northern Illinois Botanical Society is proud to announce the following featured gardens for 2003: Judy Barnard, North Church Street; Robert and Shirley Goranson, Elva Lane; Julie and Jim Johnson, Red Oak Lane; Carl and Dottie Pfalzgraf, Shorewood Drive; Sherri Rudy, Parkview Avenue; The Memory Garden of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Ferguson Street; Deni and Michael Upshaw, Harlem Boulevard; Sheila Whitehouse, Shirley Road; and Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden, Clifton Avenue. The Rockford Art Museum’s Flora exhibit, featuring art works by Georgia O’Keeffe, John James Audubon, Janet Philblad and Milton Avery, will be an added attraction of this year’s event.

This popular event will offer an expanded opportunity to gain valuable horticultural knowledge, ideas and tips for landscaping and gardening, a chance to purchase unique items for your garden and quality plants, and to enjoy lunch in a five-acre private garden.

Travel between gardens is a breeze, whether you elect to drive yourself and follow the detailed map, or purchase a ticket for the Klehm Coach. Advance tickets for the event are $14 for general public and $12 for NIBS members. Information: call 965-8146.
