Annually, our community hosts more than 20 major fundraisers for charitable causes such as cancer research, food pantries, area hospital benefits and many more. Area artists have contributed literally thousands of dollars in artwork for silent auctions, raffles and fairs, plus volunteered countless hours to charity work within our community.
The Friends of the Artists Benefit is an award to recognize and subsidize outstanding efforts of one special artist. For the first annual Friends of the Artists Benefit, an artist from Rockford has been chosen as the recipient of this years award. Jeanne Coe will be honored from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6 at an Open House hosted by Lungos Landing (the first street northeast of the Riverside Bridge). Krista Lungo will provide appetizers and wine tasting. Mike Owens will perform his famous Jimmy Buffet show. An original piece of artwork by Jeanne Coe will also be given away.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance by mailing your check or money order to: Lungos Landing Friends of the Artists Benefit, 10 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park, IL 61111; or call 877-8455. Tickets will also be available at the door and at the following businesses: Lungos Landing, Marias, The Rue Marche, The Village Gallery and Rockford Business Forms.
