First Thursday–an International Tour

First Thursday–an International Tour

First Thursday in North End Commons, starting at 5 p.m. on May 2, has something for everyone.

Austrian artist Ingrid Neuhofer Dohm will be in her studio at Myott and Toner offering refreshments and a chance to view her selection of watercolors, acrylics and new pastel portraits. Traditional German fare is served at the Rathskeller, and a complimentary cup of German coffee accompanies their famous cheesecake or German chocolate cake. For Italian cuisine, choose Fantini, offering free bruschetta with any entree, or Altamore Ristorante, open only on First Thursday for your dining pleasure.

For an Irish flavor, stop in for corned beef and cabbage at the Waffle Inn. Continue the taste of Ireland at The Tin Whistle as you enjoy the Celtic music sessions which commence at 5:30 p.m.

If Victorian England is your cup of tea, stop in and have one at Traditional Treasures, where Dianne Walter-Butler, Light Trance Channeler, will conduct 15-minute readings (first come, first served—$20). Traditional Treasures features unique gifts, candies, antiques and gently used books. Generations Remembered and Copper Fish Galleries will be open to take us back to America’s past with antiques and collectibles.

North End Commons is located at the intersection of Main and Auburn in Rockford’s historical north end. Maps are available at each participating business to assist you in your quest for a fun and early start on the weekend.
