Wild card competition set for 8 p.m., tonight, Aug. 30, at JTs Bourbon Street Grille
Five finalists for JTs Bourbon Street Grilles Battle of the Bands have been announced, and they will compete for the $1,000 grand prize Sunday, Sept. 10.
Last week (Aug. 23), Mel-e-os Cosmos became the fifth weekly winner, and will join Blues Hawks, Bone Shed, Endity and Split Decision in the final round of competition.
To determine which band will fill the sixth slot, Reighn of Ruin, Burntside and Freestyle will give second performances tonight (Aug. 30) in the wild card competition, sending one to the finals.
Winners of the first- second- and third-place prizes will be announced following the final Sept. 10 set. The second-place finisher will be awarded a $250 gift certificate to JTs Bourbon Street Grille, and the third-place finisher will receive a $150 gift certificate to Bourbon Street Grille. The grand prize winner will also be the focus of a feature story in The Rock River Times.
Aside from the roster of bands participating in the finals, JTs Bourbon Street Grille will also offer a free buffet of Cajun food for all musicians who have competed in the contest. Bourbon Street owner Anthony Foreman said he appreciates the time the bands have taken to be part of the competition.
Foreman said: As a way to thank the bands for playing, I am going to give them a free buffet on Sunday (Sept. 10). Every musician who has played, whether they won or not, is welcome to come and eat and celebrate during the finals. They made this all possible.
Bands are asked to show up at least 45 minutes before their time slots to ensure proper sound levels and start times. Musicians are also encouraged to call JTs Bourbon Street Grille with questions or concerns at 964-4400.
JTs Bourbon Street Grille is at 1407 N. Main St. in Rockford. Music starts at 8 p.m., tonight, Aug. 30. The Sept. 10 finals kick off at 3 p.m. Admission is free.
