Bonzi Productions stages 1980s hit July 27-29

“And you can dance…” at Bonzi Production’s second summer installment of Footloose the musical. Sign up before the show for your chance to participate in the pre-show dance contest.

Five audience members will be given their chance to go on stage and dance to the title song, showing the audience their best 1980s dance moves. The winner will receive a prize, and all five contestants will be involved with the cast in the second part of the pre-show—a take from the movie, in which the curtain will be dropped down to knee height and audiences will watch a variety of shoes dancing to the overture.

These dancing antics are only a small portion of the fun and excitement you’ll encounter as the stage version of the hit movie comes alive. Hear your 1980s favorites, like “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Let’s Hear it for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise” and “Footloose.” Wear your 1980s threads and watch as this dance extravaganza comes to life on stage; based on the movie sensation, starring Kevin Bacon.

Watch as the stifled town of Bomont becomes rekindled by Ren’s spirit, and watch as the Rev. Shaw is able to find his true religious roots and, once again, lead his town in joy and happiness.

Starring Mackenzie Nardiello as Ariel; Cassie Johnson, Alyseia Smith and Kelsey Cratty as her friends; Andrew Perez as Chuck; James Castree as Willard; Paul and Karli Smith as the Rev. and Mrs. Moore; and Andrew Mahan as Ren.

Don’t miss this one—choreographed by the Beardsley family. Show runs July 27-July 29 (Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.) at the Woman’s Club’s Rockford Theatre.

Tickets are $9 for adults, and $7 for seniors and kids 12 and younger. Call (815) 394-8987 for reserved tickets, or buy them at the door.
