Forest City Queen returns

The Rockford Park District’s Forest City Queen is back in operation on the Rock River with tasty offerings.

River District Catering is providing gourmet fare, as well as family-friendly choices. Reservations are needed at least three days in advance.

Family Fun Nights are offered Wednesdays through Aug. 30, with pizza and the best seat on the Rock River for the Ski Broncs water ski shows.

The Friday Night Fish Fry cruises start at 6:30 p.m., through Aug. 25, with a menu of Atlantic White Fish, roasted potatoes, with all the trimmings and dessert while you cruise the Rock River.

Saturday evening sunset dinner cruises set sail twice a month with exquisite, upscale dinner cruises featuring Tuscan Sauteed Chicken Breast, Roasted Tenderloin of Beef, Island Grilled Mahi Mahi Filet and Bacon Wrapped Pork Filet, or Grilled Vegetable Napoleon. Dates are July 1, 15, 29, Aug. 12 and 26.

Private dinner cruises are also available. To make reservations for dinner cruises or for more information, call 987-8894 (TTY-963-DEAF). The Forest City Queen has a wheelchair lift to assist passengers and has an assistive listening system available to ensure effective communication of narrated tours. Call 987-1600 (voice/TTY) 48 hours in advance to reserve.

The excursion riverboat also offers public rides Wednesdays, Fridays and weekends. Cruises leave at noon, 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m.
