Four Rivers Environmental Coalition publishes guide for educators

In April 2005, the Four Rivers Environmental Coalition published and distributed a new Guide to Educational Resources for teachers, Scout leaders and others organizing educational experiences for youth. The guide lists many of the environmental education programs provided by 16 local providers. It includes field trips, classroom visits, badge workshops, family events, educator training and more.

Numerous local organizations offer a range of fascinating programs that will help educators meet state learning standards for science, math and other curricula. These engaging, interactive experiences enhance learning and retention by bringing science and math concepts to life. Information on grade and state standard correlation is included for each program, where available. Most of the participating environmental educators are happy to tailor their programs to better fit class needs and interests.

The guides have been distributed to public and private schools in Boone and Winnebago counties. To obtain a free copy of the guide, call Jamie Johannsen at (815) 877-6100 or Tina Dawson at (815) 547-7935.
