Fourth of July celebration offers ‘great view from the Great Lawn’

The WXRX SkyConcert Skybox Fourth of July festival will be held at Davis Park in downtown Rockford from 6 p.m. to midnight. For a $5 cover charge, guests will have “a great view from the great lawn” for SkyConcert 2004.

“SkyConcert is a magical 30-minute fireworks display that is synchronized to music heard exclusively on WXRX 104.9 FM,” says David McAley, general manager of Radio Works. “Radio Works is delighted to be a partner with the Fourth of July Committee for the annual SkyConcert party at Davis Park, as all of the proceeds raised each year are donated directly to the committee to help fund the fireworks show.”

“With the SkyConcert Skybox at Davis Park, patrons can anticipate a total Fourth of July celebration experience,” says Jim Stone, program director for WXRX. “Not only can residents and visitors come down, beat the traffic, and enjoy premiere viewing of the fireworks display, but this year’s soundtrack will just amaze you.”

The WXRX SkyConcert is sponsored in part by Lorden Distributing/Miller Lite, Hammertime Sports, The Power Connection (IBEW-NECA) and Rock River Valley Blood Center.

There will be no advance ticket sales. Come down before or after the parade and pay at the entry to Davis Park. SkyConcert Skybox will be limited to 5,000 people. Children 5 and younger are free. Patrons are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs, but outside food and beverages are not allowed in the park. Visit for more information.
