The SwedishAmerican Center For Women will host a free breast cancer program Monday, Oct. 3, at Giovannis, 610 N. Bell School Rd.
Exploring The Healing Power of Music will be presented by Deforia Lane, Ph.D., the resident director of music therapy at University Hospitals of Cleveland Ireland Cancer Center. Dr. Lane will share her personal breast cancer experience and the extraordinary benefits music provides in the healing process.
Once a budding opera singer, Dr. Lane has dedicated her talent to treating patients with music therapy, and the results are astonishing. Thousands of seriously ill people have found new joy and hope through her music.
Everyone who attends will receive a CD of relaxing music and a gift certificate for $25 off a mammogram at the SwedishAmerican Center for Women. In addition, a variety of door prizes will be awarded, and refreshments will be served.
Health care exhibits will be open at 5:30 p.m., with Dr. Lanes presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m.
