Rock Valley Colleges Fresh Beginnings/Advancing Opportunities offers a free pre-employment workshop for displaced homemakers (divorced, separated or widowed). Also eligible for the workshop are single parents receiving TANF and those receiving food stamps and/or medical card.
The workshop for those seeking gainful employment will be held Sept. 8-25, Mon. through Thurs. from 9 a.m. to noon at the IETC office, 3134 11th St., Rockford. The workshop, operated and administered by Rock Valley College, includes interest and skill assessments, assertiveness training, developing self-esteem, goal setting, job search information, résumés, applications, interviewing techniques and basic computer skills.
Fresh Beginnings/Advancing Opportunities also offers assistance with job placement, counseling, referral and tuition and supportive services for GED, basic skills and vocational training/education.
Fresh Beginnings/Advancing Opportunities is funded through grants from the Illinois Community College Board, the Department of Labor and the Illinois Department of Human Services.
