FREEPORTFreeport Arts Center (FAC) will host the Art Bench Auction Fund-raiser at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 3, at the Freeport Country Club.
During the fund-raiser, visitors will be invited to the Country Club to view the many art benches available for auction. Free admission and a guided tour of the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford will also be up for auction.
Refreshments will be available before and during the auction at a cash bar. Auction begins at 7:30 p.m., facilitated by Munda and Associates.
All auction items can be viewed in advance at www.freeportartscenter.org. All forms of payment will be accepted at the auction. Absentee bids may be placed by calling the FAC office at 235-9755 until 4:30 p.m. the day of the auction. Amount of maximum bid and credit card number must be registered with office staff prior to auction. Arrangements must be made to take the sold art benches from the Freeport Country Club the night of the auction.
The Art Bench Project is the first of a series of artistic projects to build awareness of the citys commitment to the arts and to the beautification of the community. The intent of the project is to bring greater attention to visual arts, local artists and the FAC, all of which enrich the community in which we live.
All proceeds entirely benefit the Freeport Arts Center. A map with the location of each bench and a list of all the sponsors and artists is available at FAC, 121 N. Harlem Ave., the Frame-N-Art Gallery, 14 W. Stephenson, and various other downtown businesses.
FAC is at 121 N. Harlem Ave., and is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday-Friday; and noon-5 p.m., Saturday-Sunday. Tours may be scheduled by calling 235-9755. Admission to FAC is free, although donations are accepted.
