For more than 25 years, the amazing performances of the Shangri-La Chinese Acrobats have astounded audiences worldwide. Under the direction of Ken Hai, the precision and grace of this 18-member company flawlessly interprets an art form honed by years of training discipline: Chinese acrobatics.
The Freeport Arts Center will present the Shangri-La Chinese Acrobats at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18 in the Masonic Temple of Freeport.
This multi-faceted and multi-cultural production features dazzling acrobatic displays, formidable feats of balance, Kung Fu, brilliant costumes, and comedy for all ages.
Two of the shows most amazing feats are Kung Fu artists breaking bricks on their heads and a performer climbing to the ceiling on 12 chairs stacked on four wine bottles. Another consists of 10 performers riding on a single bicycle. Humor and grace are combined in these acts with elaborate, colorful costumes.
Adult tickets are $16 for non-members of the Arts Center and $14 for members. Childrens tickets are $8 each. Call the Center for ticket reservations at (815) 235-9755.
