Freeport Fire and Police collect coats for those in need

FREEPORT—This time of year provides numerous opportunities to do good for others and feel good about yourself.

In their ongoing efforts to reach out to meet community needs, Freeport’s Fire and Police departments are accepting good new and used outer clothing (coats, hats, scarves, gloves and boots) at any one of Freeport’s three fire stations (507 S. Adams; 904 S. Park Blvd.; or 1819 S. West Ave. (Hwy. 26)); or at City Hall (if that is more convenient) through Dec. 16.

Then, after these items have been collected, anyone needing one or more of these outer garments may pick them up at any of these same locations between Dec. 21 and Dec. 23.

So, if you can’t remember the last time you did something good for someone else, then consider going through your house or your wallet to share some warmth and a blessing. Feel free to contact the Mayor’s office at (815) 235-8200 for more information.
