Friends of Lockwood's Run for the Animals' Oct. 8

The Friends of Lockwood Park are inviting all area runners to their second annual Run for the Animals. The fund-raising event will be Sunday, Oct. 8, at the park. Check-in time is 8-9:45 a.m. The 5K run will begin at 10 a.m., and a family-friendly 1-mile walk will start at 10:05 a.m.

Participants will be able to enjoy nature’s beauty on the 3.1-mile scenic course as it winds through the woods and open spaces of scenic Lockwood and Anna Page parks. Entry fees are $15 in advance and $20 on race day. The fee includes a commemorative T-shirt for all participants. The Park District will also have beverages and snacks available for sale following the event. All runners and walkers will have their names entered into a drawing for prizes. The proceeds will help feed and care for the horses and animals at Lockwood Park.

You may pre-register by mail or in person at Rockford Park District Customer Service, 401 S. Main St., in Rockford, or by calling 987-8809.
