Global Warming: Myth or Reality?


The Natural Resources Committee of the League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford will host a presentation on Global Warming and Alternative Energy Sources at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Cliffbreakers, 711 W. Riverside Blvd. Cost for the event is $13 and includes lunch.

For several years, environmentalists have been concerned about global warming and its effect on the environment. There is another faction that does not believe the problem exists. This is an opportunity for all interested parties to learn more about this contemporary and controversial issue. Dr. Justine Walhout, professor emerita of Chemistry, Rockford College, will present “Global Warming: Myth or Reality?” Panelists Debbie Best, Lynnette Danzl-Tauer and Dorothy Espenscheid from the Natural Resources Committee of the LWVGR will discuss solar, geothermal and windmill power as alternative sources of energy and alternative transportation methods with Polly Berg acting as moderator.
