Gov. Edgar to speak at chicken dinner April 11

April 4 deadline for reservations

Former Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar (R) will speak at the Rockford Area Illini Club’s (RAIC) annual Spring Chicken Dinner April 11 at Clock Tower Resort & Conference Center in Rockford.

Edgar, who served two terms as Illinois governor from 1991 to 1999, will speak about “Government, Politics and Public Policy.”

Event starts at 5 p.m., April 11, with social hour, cash bar and appetizers.

A sit-down chicken piccata dinner will be served at 6 p.m., and Edgar will speak around 7:15 p.m.

Cost for the event, which is open to the public, is $30, and deadline for reservations is Wednesday, April 4. Reservations are required to either Laura Goodin at 815-637-1447 or or John Paulsgrove at 815-332-5580, 815-871-4416 or Space is limited.

RAIC, which has three times been named the University of Illinois Alumni Association’s Outstanding Club, is a social and service club for fans, friends and alumni of UIUC. About 550 fans and alumni are members of RAIC, which serves the four-county region of Boone, Ogle, Stephenson and Winnebago.
