Green News: Take a minute and get off the list

For everything you do, there’s a green choice that’s good for you AND the environment. Here you’ll find information about how people, companies and organizations are embracing “GREEN TECHNOLOGY” and discovering environmentally responsible alternatives to older technology.

Paper … it’s everywhere … and more of it arrives in your mailbox every day. Take two minutes … and get yourself off the subscription lists of things you no longer read or want. Most catalogs have their web site and phone number listed where you can easily find them. Just call or e-mail that you wish to be removed from the catalog list. If you receive mail at work, take the time to get off the lists of the publications you no longer read.

If you don’t have the time … let someone else take care of the problem for you. Go to For one thin dime per day, this group will stop your paper junk mail and plant a tree for you each month. According to GreenDimes, one year’s junk mail in the United States alone would fill 420,000 dump trucks.

Check out the magazines list below and make sure the publications you want to keep reading are doing their part by using recycled paper for their publication.

Ready to go further? Remember to print on both sides of the paper through your computer printer when possible. Or use the scrap sheets for lists and notes. Recycle all the rest, of course. Don’t forget, after you open your mail, you can recycle the envelopes.

The only piece of paper truly worth saving is The Rock River Times … but when you have finished reading it, won’t you make sure it gets to a friend and then lands in a recycling bin? YOU’LL SAVE TREES, and it’s good for our earth.
