Green Party meeting on Oct. 3

The Winnebago-Boone Green Party will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3 in the Auditorium meeting room downstairs at the Rockford Public Library, 215 N. Wyman St.

Sonia and Robert Vogl will discuss the recent wind generators proposed for the area, and answer questions about alternative energy sources. The Vogls organized an alternative energy fair for Ogle County this last summer that was quite successful.

Green members will also discuss the following issues:

1) a tipping fee for garbage brought into the counties.

2) the Perryville Road extension.

3) Encourage more recycling bins to be placed around the counties, especially during major festivals.

4) Setting aside and protection of natural areas along Highway 173, especially in front of Rock Cut State Park.

The public is welcome to attend. Winnebago-Boone Greens meet every first Thursday at the Rockford Public Library. For more information, call David Black at (815) 547-4760.
