Groove Walk 2001 in River District this weekend
Its official! Groove Walk 2001 will be held from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m.on Saturday, May 5, 2001 in downtown Rockfords River District. On The Waterfront, Inc. and the River District have joined forces to produce this event, which benefits the Rockford Area Music Industrys Gary Wilmer Scholarship Fund.
Come downtown and take a walk in Rockfords River District. Visit some of the areas best establishments and listen to a sample of Rockfords great musical talent! Patrons will have the opportunity to purchase individual tickets at each of the 10 participating venues for $3, or purchase a Groove Tour pass for $6, which will allow access to all establishments. RMTD will be providing the trolley to promote celebrating responsibly. It will travel between destinations throughout the evening.

State St. – Blues Hawks; Irish Rose*, 519 E. State St. – Simply Blues; Little Italys Club 505, 501 E. State St. – Basement Blues Band; Octane, 124 N. Main St. – Tom Mac Group; The Office, 513 E. State St. – Bea Brady; Paragon on State, 205 W. State St. – Dan Voll Combo Loco; Swilligans Pub*, 200 N. Church St. – Too Deep; and Toms Tap, 315 S. Main St. – Betsy Kaske.
Groove tour passes can be purchased in advance at locations marked * in the previous paragraph, at Borders Books Music & Cafe, 199 Deane Dr., Rockford, or at On The Waterfront, Inc., 308 W. State St., Suite 115, Rockford. Patrons will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite group, who will be awarded the Best of Rockford Peoples Choice time slot at the 2001 On The Waterfront Festival.
A portion of the evenings proceeds will benefit the Gary Wilmer Scholarship Fund, which is administered by the Rockford Community Trust Foundation. Groove Walk is produced by On The Waterfront, Inc. and dhte River District.
