The NIC-10 high school football season kicks off this Friday night (Aug. 24). For the third year in a row, WNTA 1330 AM radio will be broadcasting games live. For the previous two years, WNTA has been the home of Boylan Titans football. This year, the station has decided to expand its coverage and do a featured game of the week.

Ken DeCoster and Bill Koch will be in the booth calling all the action. Once again, I will be roaming the sidelines searching for the story within the game, and supplying halftime and post-game coach and player interviews.

Veteran broadcaster and the dean of the NIC-10, Dean Ervin, will be joining the WNTA broadcast team this season. Ervin will be in the studio providing highlights, updates and scores from all the games around the conference throughout the broadcast.

The first game of the week of the new season will feature the Guilford Vikings traveling to Titan Stadium to take on the defending conference champion Boylan Titans. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

I understand not everyone can make it out to one of our area’s high school stadiums each week. I hope you will try to support your favorite team by attending at least one game this season. High school football is something that our community can take pride in. Let’s give these young athletes, cheerleaders, band members and student fans our support. They deserve it. See you at the games, and don’t forget to bring along your radios!
