Help Carpenter’s Place help others

Daytime homeless shelter in search of more volunteers

Due to the rapid growth of The Carpenter’s Place, more adult volunteers are needed to work with staff to provide services for homeless men and women from the Rockford area. Areas of involvement cover a wide range of interests, skills and abilities.

“We welcome members of the community to join us in the work we do and enhance our services. Some jobs involve working directly with our homeless guests; others are support positions that are more behind the scenes. Each job is important!” noted Kay Larrick, director of agency relations. “We invite interested persons to call, come for a tour, and explore the ways they can make a difference through working at The Carpenter’s Place!”

Carpenter’s Place provides a safe and nurturing place where homeless men and women can seek shelter for the day. Case management, educational classes and support groups, community service collaboration, and the basic necessities of breakfast, lunch, clothing, shower facilities, storage of belongings, a mailing address, telephone access, and laundry service are provided to homeless individuals struggling to rebuild their lives and attain self-sufficiency.
