Help give airport wings

Bob O’Brien, executive director of The Greater Rockford Airport, wants the public’s help in bringing yet another airline to Rockford. He wants people to visit the airport’s Web site,, and fill out a survey that, if enough people respond to, could help persuade the mystery airline to come to Rockford.

The mystery airline would fly out of Rockford three times a day to an airport where passengers can connect to domestic and foreign locations.

Greater Rockford Airport, which re-opened for commercial flights less than a year ago, has attracted TransMeridian service to Las Vegas, Orlando, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto Rico. More than $170 million has been invested in infrastructure improvements and facilities at the airport, which is in the midst of a $13 million airport improvement program.
