High Maintenance: A ‘posh’ Rockford salon makes a great move to Edgebrook

Studio Blu, a stylish hair and nail salon in Rockford, is expanding by moving to Edgebrook Center.

Sisters Lisa Jiminez and Lauri Brolund opened Studio Blu together in May 2003. The original location was on East State Street across from Fairview Center. Even though the salon was functioning, the parking wasn’t the best, and the building wasn’t big enough to house the growing staff.

“We needed more room,” Lisa tells me. “The new location at Edgebrook was exactly what we wanted.”

They have more parking, easier access to the salon and now can expand from seven to 10 stylists.

There is plenty of room for the salon’s nail and massage therapy departments. It sounds as if they have plenty of beauty professionals to take care of their large clientele.

“We strive for customer service,” Lisa said. “We treat all of our clients like friends.”

As I am interviewing Lisa, I can’t help but notice how beautiful she is. All the Studio Blu girls are gorgeous and very stylish. If these girls can make us look the way they do, then, ladies, we need to make appointments. Pronto!

This salon will make a perfect fit in Edgebrook along with the high-fashion boutiques that have taken residence in the center.

The salon opened Thursday, June 1. The Studio Blu grand opening is Friday, June 9. This open house sounds like a blast, and is open to the public. The party starts at 7 p.m., and the event is being catered by Kiki B’s restaurant in Edgebrook. Fashion show starts at 7:30 p.m., and features models wearing fashions from B. Jones, Sara Grace, Talbots and Sarah McClelland apparel. The shoes are featured by my favorite local shoe store, Girly Girl Shoes. All the hair, nails and make-up on the models will be done by the beautiful Studio Blu girls. You’ll get to see firsthand the talent these girls have.

There will be a silent auction, and all donations are being sent to Maya’s House. Come experience the fashion and good food. This event will be delightful!
