It wasnt reported on television or in most major newspapers, but Sen. Hillary Clinton hit some dischords at a recent New York concert.
Columnist Matt Drudge (drudgereport.com) told his readers that Hillary attended the Concert for New York at Madison Square Garden last Saturday.
When she stepped on stage unannounced to introduce a movie clip, Hillary was booed and jeered by thousands of attendees, including a large number of police and firemen.
VH1 television captured the incident as Hillary tried to shout over the howling crowd. One New York police officer, just feet from the stage, yelled: Get off the stage! We dont want you here!
Many yelled profanities and anti-Clinton slurs which intensified throughout the Garden. Clinton buddy and the event-planner, Harvey Weinstein, was visibly shaken as he heard the crowd explode in boos, catcalls and jeers.
New Yorks junior senator fled the stage after less than 20 seconds.
Hillarys coterie of aides and confidantes were very angry. How could we not know this would be the wrong forum for Hillary?, asked one.
Former President Bill Clinton took the stage minutes after his wife. He drew scattered boos as he spoke of the rescuers heroism. His anger about his wifes reception was very apparent backstage
Other political figures from the Empire State received warmer welcomes during the five-hour concert, which featured Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Elton John and others. The concert raised millions of dollars for aid to the victims of Sept. 11.
