The eight-year run of the United Hockey League (UHL) in Rockford came to a close last Saturday night, April 7. The IceHogs wrapped up their affiliation with the UHL by soundly defeating the Chicago Hounds 5-0 to end their final regular season game with a record-tying 48th win.
The Hogs now have to concentrate on the first round of the Colonial Cup playoffs. They will face their archrivals, the Quad City Mallards, in game one at 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 13, at the MetroCentre. Game two will be another home game at 5:05 p.m., Sunday, April 15.
This opening-round series marks the second time in history the two in-state enemies have faced one another in the post-season. The last time came in 2003.
Games three and four will be played at the MARK of the Quad Cities. Game three will be Wednesday, April 18. Game four is Friday, April 20. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
If necessary, game five would be played at the MetroCentre at 5:05 p.m., Sunday, April 22. Should the two teams require a sixth game, it would be played back at the MARK at 7 p.m., Monday, April 23. If the series comes down to a seventh and final game, it will be played on the Hogs home ice at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 25.
Tickets for the Colonial Cup playoffs are on sale at the MetroCentre box office or by calling (815) 968-5222.
