’Hogs open playoffs at home April 21

The Rockford IceHogs will open the first round of the 2006 Colonial Cup Playoffs on their home ice. The first game of the best-of-seven series will be Friday, April 21 at the Rockford MetroCentre as the ’Hogs open a series with the Fort Wayne Komets. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The Komets won the last two times these teams met during the regular season. March 29, Fort Wayne won at home 3-2, and then shut out the ’Hogs 6-0 at the MetroCentre March 25. These two teams met in round two of the 2005 playoffs. The Komets won that series 4-3.

Following Friday night’s opener, the ’Hogs and the Komets will play game two of the series Sunday, April 23. Game time for Sunday’s contest is 5:05 p.m.
