Holiday lights in Sinnissippi Park

The 22nd Annual Community Tree Lighting presentee by IKON Office Solutions will be at Sinnissippi Park Sunday, Dec. 8, with festivities starting at 4 p.m. This year’s event is co-sponsored by Northwest Bank and 13 WREX-TV. First Hispanic Church of God Children’s choir and groups from Kishwaukee Elementary School and Pilgrim Baptist Church will provide entertainment.

The Community Tree will be lit at approximately 5:10 p.m. amid the “Winter Wonderland” grove of 50 trees decorated by schools and youth groups. One of Santa’s elves will be a sign language interpreter, who sign the proceedings. The free event will conclude with a Grand Fireworks Finale, compliments of the Holiday Festival of Lights.

The 14th Annual Holiday Festival of Lights will open at 5:15 p.m. with Santa and his special elf going through first. Displays will be lit nightly starting at 5 p.m. through Jan. 1, plus all night on Christmas Eve.

Parking will be permitted near the Sinnissippi Greenhouse and in the riverfront lot north of the Greenhouse (use the Symbol entrance to access), and the YMCA north lot. For disability support at the Tree Lighting, call 987-1600 (voice/TTY).
