Charlottes Web offers a treat for all ages this weekend. Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., come to the Rockford Public Library Auditorium, 215 N. Wyman St. The Childrens Theatre Project presents Honk Jr., a modern rendition of the timeless classic, The Ugly Duckling, a story worth reflecting on today. People of all ages will delight in the remarkable talents of this 4-year-old youth theater troupe. The show is free!
At 8 p.m., Saturday, The Jim Kanas Trio comes to the Lions Den at Rockford College, 5050 E. State St. The Jim Kanas Trio plays bluegrass, jazz and folk music and a mixture of country and western swing. Since their formation in 1987, The Jim Kanas Trio has been thrilling audiences of all ages throughout northern Illinois. The group is defined by its signature sound, tight three-part vocal harmonies with Jim on guitars, Roger Hintzsche on acoustic bass, and Steve Strombeck either fiddle or mandolin.
Joining the Trio is Jims long-time friend and collaborator, Annie Kincaid.
