Hotline provides free counseling for foreclosure concerns

MINNEAPOLIS—Financially troubled homeowners concerned about foreclosure can now call a hotline to receive free, confidential help from federally certified, nonprofit counseling agencies.

A service from the Homeownership Preservation Foundation, the 888-995-HOPE Hotline provides free advice from counseling agencies certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Available 24 hours a day, counselors can help homeowners develop a plan to address financial difficulties. In addition, the hotline also provides assistance connecting homeowners with their mortgage company to develop a plan to prevent foreclosure.
