How to get quality siding remodelers on your project
BOONEVILLE, MISSInstalling siding is a great way to make your home more beautiful and increase your property value. But to make sure you dont end up with warped or buckled siding, youve got to get the right remodeler. To get the most out of your installation project, Heartland Building Products, a manufacturer of vinyl siding, recommends covering the following points. And dont worry about asking remodelers any of these questions either. If theyre qualified, theyll be more than happy to explain their skills.
Make sure your siding installer:
Has good communication skills.
Operates in a professional manner.
Is licensed, bonded and insured.
Has been in business a minimum of three years.
Offers detailed estimates, work schedules and contracts in writing.
Provides a written guarantee of workmanship.
Uses quality vinyl siding products certified under the Vinyl Siding Institute (VSI) program.
Offers an exceptional manufacturers warranty.
Is a member of respected trade associations and has a clean record (you can check out the BBB online at www.bbb.org).
Your remodeler should also provide you with at least three customer references and photos if possible of completed jobs. Be sure to contact references and ask them:
If the job was finished on time and on budget.
If any problems had to be corrected during the construction process.
If the remodeler kept them informed and addressed their concerns.
If the remodeler had to be recalled after the project was completed and why. (And if there was a problem, how long it took to get resolved.)
If the finished product is what they thought it would be.
And what changes they would make if they were to do the job again.
Heartland takes great pride in the design and manufacturing of vinyl siding products, symbolized by the heart-shaped weep hole in every siding panel. Headquartered in Booneville, Miss., Heartland is one of the largest manufacturers of vinyl siding in North America.
